In 1969, Olympia introduced a similar but completely new body shell for its SM8/SM9 typewriters.
As a result, this Colortip-S differs from the 1968 model I also added to the TWDB.
This one is missing the blocking mechanism that normally distinguishes the Colortip-S from other SM9s. I wonder if they were sometimes sold without it? See my blog link for a comparison of my two Colortips.
This one has the best typing feel of the two and also benefits from an extra large typeface.
As you can see in the typesample, the tail of the "a" slug is broken.
SOLD and replaced with a more pristine (QWERTY) SM9 :)

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia Colortip-S on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia Colortip-S By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
