Description:
One of the rare oriental models Elite 145 with arabic typeface and the carriage running from left to right! I have studied the Optima/Robotron/Erika model discussion and research in the brands section of TWDB and probably this model was manufactured either by Erika or the Robotron factories in the former GDR. Cool experience to write (and learn a little bit) the arabic language by typing ...
Curious: Obviously (see typeface sample) the step width is not the same for all characters and they seem to be placed according to their 'natural' width in a common key row owning its particular step width. I'll have to check the mechanism in detail a.s.a.p.

Collector with typewriter virus living in Austria. Fourty years ago typewriters were only standard office equipment for me. I was really glad to get my first but simple word processors in the early Eighties with delete, copy/paste and whatever wonderful functions. This fascination is over. Now I have returned to real mechanics.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Optima Elite 145 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Optima Serial Number page and the Optima Elite 145 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
