Description:
The painted Italian. I always wanted to bead blast a Standard or S-R and paint it, because under the dull drab crinkle is a great typewriter. Too bad Remington waited until the end and offshored this fantastic looking and typing machine.
The Italian plant was in Naples. The French one in Lyons. I found a 1962 article about phasing out Lyons and moving the portables to Holland and the standards to Naples.
When this hit the radar, it was all hands on deck. Super clean with some minor kinks to work out and....yes...I am super excited about this one.

Remington Super-Riter vs Standard.
This one creates a lot of confusion. The TWDB main page Remington serial numbers aren't separated.
Here is your spotters guide to what model you have.
Super Riters have key set margins. Standards have visible margins up top. Some Standards have the logo on the front, some do not. Some Standards in the wild have been spottted with a Super-Riter logo on the back. I'm going to guess a dealer just slapped a pretty cover on the back to replace one that was beat up, as they are interchangeable.
Standard covers have the silver trim strip. When they started selling them as rebuilts, they were called "Remington Silver Stripe." This is pretty interesting, as it seems to imply people didn't like the Super Riter's key set margin.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to anyone area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Standard on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Standard By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
