Description:
This nice example did a tour on the wedding circuit. Other than a couple of missing keys and a bent vibrator, she held up pretty well. Under the ugly skin and drab paint is a magnificent machine.
Standards have margin sets up top. Some had an external ribbon selector switch, some did not. Some had Standard on the cover, and others did not. This also matches the art work used for ads. There's a lot of Standards in with the Super-Riter gallery.
Super-Riters have keyset margin.
The Standard rolls out in 1953 and the J serial numbers overlap with Super Riters. Standards are often misidentified as Super Riters.
When they start showing up on the rebuilt circuit they were often called "Silver Stripe" machines (image). I think this was to distinguish them from Super-Riters.
In 1960 the Standard becomes the Model 19 (image).

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to anyone area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Standard on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Standard By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
