Description:
Just after New Year's Day, 2018, we had a "bomb cyclone" Nor'easter that dumped snow throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. I went out in it to dig this 1905 Remington 6 out of a barn outside of Millville, New Jersey. It was a pretty treacherous journey. On the way home, I decided to throw the rusty old typewriter in a roadside snowdrift. In frigid wind chills and 40m.p.h. winds, I threw it in, snapped four or five pictures, and jumped back in within 30 seconds. Those are some of my favorite pictures, ever. By fall of 2018, I had it cleaned-up as a functional upstrike machine, and quite a looker to boot. One element that I did not "fix" was a pre-existing mend of the "A" typebar linkage that must've broken 80-100 years ago, and was fixed with a twig and a bit of twine. It continues to work just fine, so I decided not to mess with it.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington 6 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington 6 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
