19XX Scheidegger (Keller und Knappich) Princess-Matic Serial # 371275 19XX Scheidegger (Keller und Knappich) Princess-Matic typewriter, Serial # 371275 Richard Wood's 19XX Scheidegger (Keller und Knappich) Princess-Matic typewriter. 2017-05-28 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Richard Wood: 19XX Scheidegger (Keller und Knappich) Princess-Matic Serial # 371275 Scheidegger Princess-Matic, made by Keller and Knappich in Western Germany.

Serial number suggests 1954 according to TWD but mine has plastic spool pins and I believe this is too early for these. I think mine is a 60's model. There is another SN on back of machines sticker with a different number. I prefer my logo being a transfer/painted job rather than the thick plastic stuck on logo type.

Very nicely made machine, quite a firm typer - platen/carriage shifted

Bought for £5 from lady who bought it to learn to touch type and "never got her brain round the system"

Came with case, manual, and Willy Scheideggers 1970's training manual and fingering chart with plastic key caps.

NOTE: which back panel and carriage end stops removed, the carriage will come right off both ends! makes extremely easy to access escapement pinion and ball bearings. Quite intricate pulley system for the nylon draw band. Quite an intricate machine, lots of moving parts, a lot like the brothers.

Typewriter collector, previous sewing machine collector.

Originally from the Garden of England, Kent. I have lived in Sheffield for over fifteen years.

As a young child, I always enjoyed taking things apart and seeing how they functioned.

I have been collecting a range of vintage typewriters for over two years.

Previously, I was interested in restoring sewing machines, then I acquired my mothers Olivetti Dora and looked under the hood and typed, I was hooked on typewriters and how they worked.

I learn something every day from passionate bloggers and typewriter enthusiasts.

Fan of Joe Van Cleave's typewriter video series.
