Description:
-SOLD-
Boots (Silver Seiko) PT800
Has a pre-set tabs, with touch-adjustment. Is carriage shifted. Made in the 1980's. Only model (of this number) on the typewriter database.
It is a 1980's Boots PT800 portable manual typewriter, made by Silver Seiko for the Pharmaceuticals,Healthcare, Beauty
& Photography company Boots which was founded in 1849 and is still going strong today. This wonderful British company who sold this typewriter would have sold this model along with a range of ribbons and stationary in the 80's.
See picture of the difference between the 70's and 80's ribbon reverse mechanisms which have by now gone from metal to plastic (which I assume also saves on weight too)

Typewriter collector, previous sewing machine collector.
Originally from the Garden of England, Kent. I have lived in Sheffield for over fifteen years.
As a young child, I always enjoyed taking things apart and seeing how they functioned.
I have been collecting a range of vintage typewriters for over two years.
Previously, I was interested in restoring sewing machines, then I acquired my mothers Olivetti Dora and looked under the hood and typed, I was hooked on typewriters and how they worked.
I learn something every day from passionate bloggers and typewriter enthusiasts.
Fan of Joe Van Cleave's typewriter video series.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Boots (Silver-Seiko) PT800 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Boots (Silver-Seiko) Serial Number page and the Boots (Silver-Seiko) PT800 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
