Description:
By the ads, the 300 was available from 71-74. Before the Coronamatic in 73, this was the top-of-the-line office compact. In 1970, they had the Secretarial 500, which must have been confusing because it would imply it was a higher-priced model over the 400 series electric standards.
This one was on the way to the dumpster. The lower IED panel is gone, and the rod to adjust the key tension is missing. A few bits from the bins and some time to set up the return so it wouldn't lock the margin up, and it is a solid typer despite some obvious hard days. These things get a bum wrap. They're evaluating a worn-out machine and aren't sure how to approach it.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to any one area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Secretarial 300 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Secretarial 300 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
