Manufacuring label on right side under the platen calls this a 6E series typewriter.
Stamped 2 78 on the frame on the inside right under the right ribbon spool.

I decided that I wanted to find the one typewriter that I remembered my mom using to type my term papers in school. Even though we couldn't find it, I found that I enjoyed typewriters and started a collection. It extended to rescuing the ones in my parents' basement a week before it flooded.
I enjoy making machines work and especially like to use the Smith Premier typewriters.
