Description:
A classic and very well preserved Lettera 32.
Even if in good condition, the typewriter was not fully functional: the keyboard blocking mechanism at the end of the line was blocked , so I had to remove the carriage and dismantle the mechanism for removing all traces of hardened lubricants. In addition, the spring on the carriage blocking mechanism was missing and had to be replaced.
A detail that confirms the typewriter excellent condition is the rubber grommets of the screws securing the body to the chassis. These are one of Olivetti's weak points and frequently require replacement. However, in this case, they are in impeccable condition, as good as new.
The case is also in very good condition.

Interested in historic motoring and vintage cars, I received a typewriter as a bonus when I bought and old off-road car. The previous owner had found somewhere a typewriter produced for the German army and when he sold me the car he gave me the typewriter too. As I learned later, it was a1961 Olympia SM7 Robust..
Of the typewriters I value more character than perfection, the signs that time has left and the stories - or fragments of stories - of those who used them ...
