1966 Smith Corona Poweriter Serial # B6LV-111362 1966 Smith Corona Poweriter typewriter, Serial # B6LV-111362 Paolo Dal Chiele's 1966 Smith Corona Poweriter typewriter. 2019-09-21 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Paolo Dal Chiele: 1966 Smith Corona Poweriter Serial # B6LV-111362 Stefano Bricarelli was a great Italian photographer and journalist. Born in 1889 in Turin, he was a pioneer of photography, an important exponent of futurism and of the artistic avant-garde in the interwar period. His name is particularly linked to the history of motoring, his second passion, and to the magazine he founded in 1926 and which he directed until his death in 1989: Motor Italia. Considered by many to be the best Italian motoring magazine, it has always stood out from the competition for the superior quality of images and texts.
As a journalist, attending salons and various events, he has always favored portable typewriters; of the three that have been entrusted to me by his daughter, I present in this gallery the most "exotic", especially with an Italian keyboard: a Smith Corona Poweriter from 1966.
The machine was sold by the company Italcalcolo SpA of Milan, as evidenced by the adhesive that appears on the body.
In 1966 Bricarelli was already almost eighty years old, and it is possible that he appreciated the convenience of an electro-mechanical machine, which required a minimum effort to write. Equipped with an accumulator it could be used without wires, which made it unique and futuristic compared to contemporary typewriters.

Interested in historic motoring and vintage cars, I received a typewriter as a bonus when I bought and old off-road car. The previous owner had found somewhere a typewriter produced for the German army and when he sold me the car he gave me the typewriter too. As I learned later, it was a1961 Olympia SM7 Robust..
