Description:
Paid 1 euro (+ transport) it took me about 30 hours to get it back to work.
Electro-mechanical typewriters are heavy, complicated, difficult to repair and subject to deteriorate in time.
The problems that I had to solve include the reconstruction of the swift mechanism silencer, the reassembling of the back space cam, the replacement of the condenser and so on.
An SGE 52 has provided the parts I needed including sub-lever springs, the small steel plate of the swift silencer, the paper support, the platen etc..
The SGE40 is simply huge and so heavy to make you thinking twice before moving it...

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olympia SGE40 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olympia Serial Number page and the Olympia SGE40 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
