Description:
Found in San Francisco, this is a very clean and lightly used Adler J3. It came with a user manual, factory control sheet, and cleaning kit with rag and brushes.
I had some difficulty removing the typewriter from the base plate because of compressed and hardened rubber collars in the latch assembly. Apparently this is a common problem with Adler portables of this vintage.
Typeface appears to be typeface is Ro 82 Pica Imperial.
The serial number is stamped under carriage on the left.

I'm a novice collector with a very small collection of mostly nonfunctional typewriters. I enjoy tinkering and repairs, so I am slowly but surely putting these typewriters back into service.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Adler J3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Adler Serial Number page and the Adler J3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
