Description:
I purchased this from a San Francisco Craigslist seller.
Carriage easily removed.
I found the thin metal Rheinmetall badge wedged inside the machine behind the segment when I removed the carriage. It may have been there for years. It is a Rheinmetall logo variant that is very different from the usual Rheinmetall logo. I re-attached it.
Serial number is located next to right ribbon spool.
Carriage shift.
S in triangle on the back appears to be quality mark used in the GDR. S= "Sonderklasse für sehr gute Qualität (Special class for very good quality)" and the numerical information below it refers to the origin of the product.

I'm a novice collector with a very small collection of mostly nonfunctional typewriters. I enjoy tinkering and repairs, so I am slowly but surely putting these typewriters back into service.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Rheinmetall KsT on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Rheinmetall Serial Number page and the Rheinmetall KsT By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
