Description:
I bought this from someone in FB marketplace, and I was excited to see it in Charcoal Grey finish. The shell is plastic, and not metal like my '55 Skyriter, but the works are identical, save for the colour of the keys and platen knobs. This machine needed a good cleaning and an adjustment to the spacebar sensitivity. It types like a dream. It is built for heavy typing, despite its tiny size. What I also loved about this machine is that it had one owner, and included all the original documentation from April 1958 when it was purchased, including also an Eberhard Faber 'type cleaner', which is like a gummy eraser.

I have been collecting typewriters all my life, starting with a 1980's Brother Charger 11 (which I no longer have, but have replaced with an identical machine). I have well over 60 typewriters now, with a few rare portables. Some are interesting or odd, but most of mine are common machines.
My wife and I have made a deal, that I can keep buying typewriters if she can keep buying shoes. Fair enough! *shrugs*
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Skyriter on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Skyriter By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
