Description:
Olivetti Lettera 22 with QWERTY keyboard layout manufactured during the first year of the model, in 1950, found at a flea market. Its case and plastic cover are both very dirty and worn out, the frame of the machine is a little bent on the front and also some hard scratches on the back. Mechanically it works fine and I must also mention that it types surprisingly quiet! One of the keys has two "mysterious" (to me) symbols, which maybe have something to say about the history of this machine. First thing I did, is replace the destroyed feet with something that I made using hard foam material as a temporary solution.

Writer and blogger from Athens, Greece. I own a small collection of typewriters, most of my machines are functional and I try to repair any with problems that keeps it from typing. For me, it is important for a typewriter not just to sit on a shelve for display, but to be able to type when I want to. On the links below you will find my blogs and social media profiles. Feel free to follow me and get in touch if you want. I am always happy to communicate :)
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Lettera 22 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Lettera 22 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
