Description:
I bought this off FB Marketplace for $5 in a lot with a bunch of other stuff, and to be honest, I didn't think I'd be able to make it type. It had a lot of rust. And yet I didn't have another project on the go, so I started pulling it apart. And then it started to work. And there were no parts missing. So a couple of weeks later, I have a beat up, somewhat working DeLuxe 5 that I kind of like. I mean, it's not pretty, but it does the job.
I've included some 'before' photos as well, just to show how I'm a sucker for an underdog.

I have been collecting typewriters all my life, starting with a 1980's Brother Charger 11 (which I no longer have, but have replaced with an identical machine). I have well over 60 typewriters now, with a few rare portables. Some are interesting or odd, but most of mine are common machines.
My wife and I have made a deal, that I can keep buying typewriters if she can keep buying shoes. Fair enough! *shrugs*
