Description:
Serial number says it was made December 1941, most likely in the 2nd half of the month. This has interesting implications, knowing how this was a very popular model with the armed forces and government. I have this romantic notion that this was part of some war contract which would mean this typewriter has served its country! Like the HH's in my collection, I would not otherwise be very very interested in this model, im this case the serial number is more interesting than the typewriter itself! Which means I'll rebuild it and keep it.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington 17 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington 17 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
