1939 Remington Model 5 Streamline Serial # CB22114 1939 Remington Model 5 Streamline typewriter, Serial # CB22114 Julian Zadorozny's 1939 Remington Model 5 Streamline typewriter. 2023-08-22 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Julian Zadorozny: 1939 Remington Model 5 Streamline Serial # CB22114 Discovered this 1939 or 1940 Remington Rand Streamline Model 5. This clean machine sits at Alien Art Market on Bathurst St. in Toronto. Little cards surround it so folks can type love notes, birthday greetings or lists for the supermarket. This machine is similar to my 1939 Remington Remette. Both of these typewriters are Canadian built in Toronto. The Model 5 has a painted Union Jack sitting snug in the right corner of the paper rest. The stickiness of the keys and the carriage release lever make for an unfulfilling experience, however the lines of the machine are sleek and rounded.

I purchased my first typewriter in 2000: Brother Pro-Line 707 built in 1969.
I wrote eight hours a day, seven days a week on that tiny machine. I wrote my first unpublished novel and hundreds of short stories on the Brother.
In 2020 I decided to purchase my second typewriter. At ten and counting, I still use and collect these amazing tools for writing.
