Description:
This one's a ShopGoodwill acquisition. A basic version of the Portable, and proudly built by British Labour in their London factory. Actually works pretty well. I bet this typewriter saw some of World War II. I suspect it came to the USA with a soldier (either during WW2, immediately after, or perhaps the soldier was a collector and got it sometime during the Cold War). Or maybe it belonged to a war bride. Who knows!

New collector with a penchant for offbeat models/brands and, conversely, the mundane models many overlook, if I have a personal connection or just find them interesting. Finding that collecting typewriters is like eating potato chips, you can't have just one! Also restorer of mechanical calcs, Vintage audio, and vintage computers.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Home Portable on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Home Portable By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
