Description:
This is the very first machine I ever bought. It was purchased in TN for about $100. There were some problems. The P keytop had a weak return spring and did not rise, although it was functional. The ribbon was dried out, and it was full of dust! Took it to an old man who used to work for Royal who cleaned it in his garage, then had Jones' Typewriter fix all the mechanical stuff. Works perfectly!
NOT for sale!
Although I have machines that are much more comfortable to use than the stiff, "noiseless" action on this machine, I'll never let it go. I've written two full-length novels on this (about 150,000 words) and it opened me to a whole new way of doing things.

I am a professional historian and writer. I have been collecting typewriters since 2013, and use them for all of my work (novels, short stories, poetry, non-fiction, and personal letters). I have a passion for all things antique, but hold a special place for these tools. Some of my collection is up for sale or trade, so if you see something you want, let me know!

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Model 1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Model 1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
