Description:
I really didn't need to buy this Noiseless as I already had a Remington Noiseless 7, but I convinced myself that it would be interesting to make a direct comparison of the two.
Some people like to point out that these machines aren't in fact noiseless, but most will agree that they are sufficiently quiet that they won't wake the dead, something that most typewriters are more than capable of doing. I argue that the Noiseless moniker gets the point across, and besides, who would want to buy a typewriter that was named the Underwood Muffled 77?

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood Noiseless 77 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood Noiseless 77 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
