Description:
I bought this machine on Craigslist in September 2019. I have now done a basic cleaning, and I an surprised how sharply and evenly it types. That's a really good surprise.
I made an adjustment as uppercase letters occasionally didn't trigger the escapement. The adjustment seems to have done the trick!
The machine still has a few issues:
- It has a broken left carriage release lever. The right one is ok.
- The bell doesn't ring due to a broken spring. Luckily, another machine on TWDB shows a bell spring repair!
- The carriage return occasionally overshoots and the first letters on a line appear lower.
- It needs feet if it is to be used outside of its case.
The case is just in ok shape.

I started collecting my first pre-WW2 standard typewriters in 2017. Since then I have added a few machines to my collection, which now ranges from the 1880s to the 1980s. As of 2024, I have more big standard (desktop) typewriters than portables, a few standard electrics, and some unusual machines like Varitypers, uncommon IBM machines, and more. I am not a pro restorer, but I have restored a few of my machines beyond simple cleaning.
