Description:
A very nice Remington Portable 3, after a full clean-up and fireside typing session. Purchased from Tikva and Peter Tytell in New York City in September, 2024. The case handle subsequently snapped (fortunately it didn't fall more than an inch or two and there was no damage.).
[Edit: Some super sleuthing by a typewriter friend, we were able to determine that the original owner--one Mrs. Vernie Kay of Los Angeles, California--was listed in the 1930 Western Music and Radio Trades Journal as the piano accompanist for the "World Famous Hollywood Baby Orchestra." A screenshot has been included in the photos below.]

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Portable 3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Portable 3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
