Description:
Ongoing restoration project. I plan to repaint and new graph is, the lot. I want to try a certain epoxy clearcoat on it which I've used on bicycles and has turned out to work remarkably well. I build bikes, and everything is painted black with this clear coat, and its about as durable as can possibly be and gives a beautiful glassy finish, which would be perfect for a typewriter. This example is complete but needs a complete rebuild and would be (since essentially a 1928 Underwood 3 is not a very valuable or rare typewriter) a perfect candidate for experimenting.
One really weird thing about it is the platen rubber is as supple and new as anything I've ever owned. It must've been rebuilt at some point. There is other evidence of a rebuild.
