1928 Remington Rem-Blick Serial # KV80128 1928 Remington Rem-Blick typewriter, Serial # KV80128 Brian Decker's 1928 Remington Rem-Blick typewriter. 2026-05-31 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Brian Decker: 1928 Remington Rem-Blick Serial # KV80128 2026-MAY-31, Original Gallery Creation. I did my routine check on eBay for any new early Remington Portable (#1) machines, and did not find anything. However, I did find this Rem-Blick, #KV80128 (July 1928) as a "Newly Listed" item. The seller is "Grandpa's Old Barn", located in Phoenix, NY, and he has a good review rating. The listing offers a "Buy It Now" price of $145, which is very reasonable, IMO, if someone wants to acquire a Rem-Blick in decent condition. Much less than is being asked for the one (#KV80220) in my local NH Antique Coop mall (see linked listing). Unfortunately, the listing photo showing the serial number stamping is too blurry to read the serial number, so one has to trust the seller's assertion that the S/N is indeed KV80128.

I might be tempted to get this one for the price, if I were more of a Blickensderfer enthusiast; although I do appreciate its historical significance and unique place in typewriter history. I don't have any Blicks or Rem-Blicks in my collection currently. If the right one comes along, I might add one; but, not this time. I already have a Barr/Macy's Portable #1 on the way :-)

My interest in typewriters started in 1997, when I was in graduate school at the University of Georgia. I purchased and read Darryl Rehr's book, joined ETC, and started reaching out to known collectors. I had several email interchanges with Richard Polt dating from that period. I also bought some of my first machines from Bob Aubert, and visited him at his home twice. After marriage and relocation to New England, I continued visiting antique shops and eBay, until other priorities put my typewriter hobby on hiatus around 2008.

In late 2024, I started up again, working on my machines and having some of them serviced professionally by New England Typewriter (NET) LLC (Merrimack, NH), until they closed their doors in December of 2025. Since mid-2025, I have been adding to my collection again, first with a Hermes 3000 purchase from NET, then with various auctions and purchases on eBay, when I find something that catches my eye.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Rem-Blick on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Rem-Blick By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
