Description:
This machine has been on my wish list for some time, and I was lucky enough to find one at auction a good distance away. This one was exported to Munich, and survived the second world war in the heartland of Nazi Germany. It is a qwertz machine, which takes a bit of getting used to. Types well. Clean. Had to reconstruct the case because of successive generations of owner who did not know how to lock the carriage, leaving the right hand platen knob out, and mashing the case down.

I have been collecting typewriters all my life, starting with a 1980's Brother Charger 11 (which I no longer have, but have replaced with an identical machine). I have well over 60 typewriters now, with a few rare portables. Some are interesting or odd, but most of mine are common machines.
My wife and I have made a deal, that I can keep buying typewriters if she can keep buying shoes. Fair enough! *shrugs*
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Remington Portable on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Remington Serial Number page and the Remington Portable By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
