Description:
This Underwood 3 came with a lot of seven machines I acquired together a couple of years ago. This can be considered a rescue: it seems to have suffered during its life, and has lots of signs of corrosion and paint loss. However, I cleaned it, removed the worst of the corrosion where it mattered, polished the bell as one should, and, being an Underwood, it types just fine.
See the "Restoration in progress" photo album below for a glimpse of how it looked before.
Weight: 31.2 lbs/14.1 kg.

I started collecting my first pre-WW2 standard typewriters in 2017. Since then I have added a few machines to my collection, which now ranges from the 1890s to the 1980s. As of 2020, I have more big standard (desktop) typewriters than portables, and a few standard electrics.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Underwood 3 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Underwood Serial Number page and the Underwood 3 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
