The carriage can be removed according to the model 10 manual, this option was supposedly available on the model 9 as well as the 10, (I haven't tried to remove it). Tri-chrome ribbon capability. Base and lid complete and intact. This is my grail typewriter.

I decided that I wanted to find the one typewriter that I remembered my mom using to type my term papers in school. Even though we couldn't find it, I found that I enjoyed typewriters and started a collection. It extended to rescuing the ones in my parents' basement a week before it flooded.

I enjoy making machines work and especially like to use the Smith Premier typewriters.
