Description:
THE HUNGARIAN HAMMOND! It sounds like a wrestling name, I know, but this 1907 Hammond 12 came with a Hungarian typeshuttle and keyboard layout. I bought it in December 2019 in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. The previous owner said it was originally owned by some well-to-do fellow from either Allentown or Coopersburg. Aside from the Hungarian layout, what makes this Hammond unique is its case and base, which comes with a built-in drawer. I have had extensive conversations online and in-person with folks who are far more knowledgeable than I who claim this is most curious, and has not been seen on another Hammond. I included a number of pictures of the base. The consensus seems to be that it was either manufactured that way at the factory, or was skillfully adapted and added-on to the base soon thereafter.
