XXXX Rover 6000 Special Serial # XXXXXX XXXX Rover 6000 Special typewriter, Serial # XXXXXX Jonas Lauritsen's XXXX Rover 6000 Special typewriter. 2024-09-15 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Jonas Lauritsen: XXXX Rover 6000 Special Serial # XXXXXX Spotted this at a thrift store, but did not purchase. Only snapped a couple of photos, deciding that this machine was probably unknown enough that it deserved this entry, if nothing else.

From what little I know and have been told, it seems that Rover machines were made in China, although they try to disguise this fact by putting a "made in Italy" statement onto the back of the typewriter. That text, coupled with it's snappy movements, square design, flat profile and other small design choices on the carriage release lever, keycap shapes, and other places, initially gave me the impression of an off-brand Olivetti. But this is apparently not the case.

As for Serial Numbers, I did try to locate on in the usual spots, in the limited few minutes I had on site. I ended up concluding that it must be accessible by unscrewing the machine from the bottom of the plastic case the feet are fastened onto, but having taken a quick look around the typewriter database on another Rover model featured, they didn't seem able to find a SN even when stripping the machine from the case, so I'm not too sure anymore.

At any case, everything worked fine, and it was pretty cheap at around $10, but at the same time it was pretty unremarkable, and ultimately I wasn't head-over-heels for it. So this is all that shall said of it.

Casual collector of replica flintlock pistols, and in that same vein, picked up a couple of typewriters through the years - as a mechanical engineer, I could not resist.
