Description:
The WordSmith lineup was part of the 1999 restructuring following the 1995 bankruptcy. By the time these hit the market, the new Smith Corona filed for bankruptcy again. As a bit of a novelty, I think this is the last Smith Corona to put words on the page. Check out the ad where they are leaning on tradition. And the name is a tie into an award they started in 1990.
These use K series daisy wheels, which are not very common compared to the H-series.

Typewriters are the perfect blend of using one's technical skills, history and functional purpose. My goal is type tested machines. My interests are not isolated to any one area. For example, I am a big fan of Smith Corona electrics, mid century electrics and all things Royal.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona WordSmith 100 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona WordSmith 100 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
