Description:
First PA-3140II on TWDB. This is my first, and only, electronic (except for IBM electronics, including the IBM Memory Typewriter, IBM Mag Card/A, and Electronic Typewriter 75). It came with a batch of other machines and I thought it could be fun to play with it.
The feel, as a typewriter, without using the memory, is not very good, due to the latency between a keypress and the paper.
Also came with the manual and lift tapes.
The machine requires plugging in and doesn't work with batteries. The power cord can be folded into a compartment in the back. The machine has a removable plastic cover over the keyboard, and a built-in handle to transport it easily.
- Weight: 12 lbs (5.4 kg)
- Voltage: 120V AC

I started collecting my first pre-WW2 standard typewriters in 2017. Since then I have added a few machines to my collection, which now ranges from the 1880s to the 1980s. As of 2024, I have more big standard (desktop) typewriters than portables, a few standard electrics, and some unusual machines like Varitypers, uncommon IBM machines, and more. I am not a pro restorer, but I have restored a few of my machines beyond simple cleaning.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Sharp PA-3140 II on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Sharp Serial Number page and the Sharp PA-3140 II By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
