Description:
Brother Word Processor with standard prestige Daisy Wheel printing, with Finnish/Swedish keyboard and typeface. The manual tells it is possible to switch between the basic (SWE/FI), International, and Symbol (greek?) Daisy Wheels while editing.
This one has IC memory card (MC-1) slot and a 15-pin port for optional centronics adapter (I don't have either - let me know if you have a spare one!). So interfacing other devices is basically impossible, later models like LW-30 and LW-350 came with 3.5 inch floppy drives. This one has 128kB internal memory, which is quite much, and the memory is powered by a CR2032 battery that should last for two years, and to avoid memory loss you should change battery while typewriter powered on.
The text showing faintly behind the typeface is the print produced by the internal demonstration program of the typewriter.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Brother LW-1 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Brother Serial Number page and the Brother LW-1 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
