Description:
Odd little daisywheel about midway in size between the thermal Typestars (which it strongly resembles in both shell and carrying case) and a regular portable-sized ET. It has an external power supply brick, making the machine itself very light. It has an internal (removable) rechargable battery (missing on this one) and takes plug-in cards to expand the memory.
I couldn't find the direct print mode when testing it, so it seems to power up in the "type a line into the screen, and when you hit return I'll type it (veeery slowly) while you type the next line into the screen" mode. If it had spare ribbons, some more typewheels and a battery, I mighta gotten it to play with it more, but no. Still, the keyboard was very nice, like on the Typestars.

I am a scoundrel without a cause, and my swank outshines the sun.
I am a casual Typewriter Hunter residing in some liminal transitional spacetime between my lifetime in Arizona to the New World of PROBABLY Conneticut with a wife, two cats and about 50 typewriters. My main hunting ground is thrift stores, and I rarely pay more than $10 for a machine. My collection consists mainly of portables with cases, and they stay in the cases unless I am actively using it (usually more than one at a time). I do, however keep a handful of interesting Selectrics, including a Composer.
(frankly, I'm not going to change my avatar background because CT's flag is lame.)
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Canon S-16 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Canon Serial Number page and the Canon S-16 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
