1983 IBM Correcting Selectric III Serial # 4969533 1983 IBM Correcting Selectric III typewriter, Serial # 4969533 Erik Bruchez's 1983 IBM Correcting Selectric III typewriter. 2022-03-28 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Erik Bruchez: 1983 IBM Correcting Selectric III Serial # 4969533 I purchased this machine in August 2018 at an estate sale. The machine didn't work. In March 2020, I got it serviced by Ole Kehlet in Sacramento and now it works like a charm. This must be one of the last Selectrics ever produced, and it appears to have low mileage.

This is model 6705, which indicates "15.5 inch dual-pitch correcting".

The main typeface sample is with the "Dual Goth" type element. See pictures for other typefaces.

UPDATE 2022-03-28: Revising date to 1983 based on marking inside bottom case that says "8-4-83" (see pictures).

I started collecting my first pre-WW2 standard typewriters in 2017. Since then I have added a few machines to my collection, which now ranges from the 1880s to the 1980s. As of 2024, I have more big standard (desktop) typewriters than portables, a few standard electrics, and some unusual machines like Varitypers, uncommon IBM machines, and more. I am not a pro restorer, but I have restored a few of my machines beyond simple cleaning.
