1981 K-Mek Sander MT-940 Serial # 81034416 1981 K-Mek Sander MT-940 typewriter, Serial # 81034416 Dimitris Nikou's 1981 K-Mek Sander MT-940 typewriter. 2021-10-10 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Dimitris Nikou: 1981 K-Mek Sander MT-940 Serial # 81034416 Found this "mysterious" and good looking Sander MT-940 typewriter at a flea market in Athens. Never heared of this brand before and also I cannot find many information online and this is the reason why I thought it would be a good idea to add it on the TWDB. There is no other similar model here as well, just another one with different model number, this is how I found out about the K-Mek manufacture name (?). The year of manufacture is a guess from the serial number, because it has the number 81 distant from the rest of the numbers - like a prefix or something. The body is fully plastic, on the back it has a "Made in Japan" sticker with its serial number and it features a beautiful standard Greek keyboard that tries hard to look similar to the keyboards of some Olivetti models - that is really interesting.

UPDATE 10/10: New pictures of the typewriter today and also the serial number, as I went again to the same flea market and the machine was still there, not sold yet.

Writer and blogger from Athens, Greece. I own a small collection of typewriters, most of my machines are functional and I try to repair any with problems that keeps it from typing. For me, it is important for a typewriter not just to sit on a shelve for display, but to be able to type when I want to. On the links below you will find my blogs and social media profiles. Feel free to follow me and get in touch if you want. I am always happy to communicate :)
