Description:
When I was growing up, my parents had an electric version of this machine in blue, and I remember my father crashing away on it when he had to write a resume or an official letter. So when I saw this at a thrift store, I recognized the case immediately. This Classic 12 is the Canadian model, so the serial numbers don't quite match up. This typewriter is my work-horse machine. It is great for letter-writing because the wide carriage takes envelopes well. In nearly a decade I have never had to so much as adjust the machine, and it is a pleasure to type on.

I have been collecting typewriters all my life, starting with a 1980's Brother Charger 11 (which I no longer have, but have replaced with an identical machine). I have well over 60 typewriters now, with a few rare portables. Some are interesting or odd, but most of mine are common machines.
My wife and I have made a deal, that I can keep buying typewriters if she can keep buying shoes. Fair enough! *shrugs*
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Classic 12 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Classic 12 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
