197X Andina Nova 90 Serial # XXXXXX 197X Andina Nova 90 typewriter, Serial # XXXXXX Javier Vazquez del Olmo's 197X Andina Nova 90 typewriter. 2022-08-30 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Javier Vazquez del Olmo: 197X Andina Nova 90 Serial # XXXXXX The Andina Nova is another member of the Talleres Alonso family, the most important "full Spanish" typewriters, that is, designed and manufactured in Spain. Olivetties are more famous, but models were designed in Italy and here only minor details were adapted.

The Andina Nova came after the Grafos. As a successor of a more than worthy machine, the quality is there. The desing line is more modern, but the mechanics are basically the same. The Andina Especial has all the extras, the Nova is the intermediate model and the Kristy is the budget version. At lest that's what I've pieced together...

In this case, the machine looks great, the packaging looked great (it was sold by a little bookstore in the BEAUTIFUL town of Brihuega, famous for the lavender fields) but after a couple of keystrokes, the disaster. This poor machine is badly beaten up, and for now it's unable to type and needs serious attention.

The first typewriter I saw was my grandpa´s Olivetti Linea 98 at the office. It was just a curio for me. Then I was given a Nakajima, which I didn´t use and my grandfather took it from me because it was easier to handle than the bulky Linea 98. Now I own that typewriter, and I started a little collection in Valladolid, Spain. The Nakajima, which is "my" typewriter only returned home in 2017, almost 20 years later, when he wanted a better typewriter.

A collection that started small grew into something bigger, a nuisace for my family and a great source of satisfaction for me.
