Description:
Now, with the Brother Chargers, it seems people either love them or hate them. Me, I love them. They're near indestructible on a budget, a real triumph of functionality and with very few plastic parts. I have owned one most of my life. So when I saw this case in a thrift shop, thinking it would be an electric, I was pleasantly surprised to find a very rare Brother Charger 12. There have been a few on online auctions and in some videos over the past decade, but I had never actually seen one in person until I flipped the lid on this case.
This one has some superficial ink marks that haven't been wiped off and have set in. Unfortunate, but it happens. The ribbon reverse mechanism could use some adjustment, and there are some slugs not hitting properly, so I will have to get in and tinker a bit. But all in all a great score.

I have been collecting typewriters all my life, starting with a 1980's Brother Charger 11 (which I no longer have, but have replaced with an identical machine). I have well over 60 typewriters now, with a few rare portables. Some are interesting or odd, but most of mine are common machines.
My wife and I have made a deal, that I can keep buying typewriters if she can keep buying shoes. Fair enough! *shrugs*
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Brother Charger 12 on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Brother Serial Number page and the Brother Charger 12 By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
