1977 Olympia Traveller de Luxe Serial # 15-3785242 1977 Olympia Traveller de Luxe typewriter, Serial # 15-3785242 Dimitris Nikou's 1977 Olympia Traveller de Luxe typewriter. 2024-01-30 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Dimitris Nikou: 1977 Olympia Traveller de Luxe Serial # 15-3785242 Olympia Traveller de Luxe typewriter with Greek typeface, made by UNIS in Yugoslavia. Located and pulled off a stack of old things at a small, untidy antique shop and purchased at a very low price, the machine is in excellent condition, "saved" by its plastic cover which is badly hitten. I love the design, charming retro style and representative of the 70's era, but also -in a way- modern and contemporary.

I think this machine was not used that much in the past, it types great, everything seems relatively new and untouched and that is really impressive. All it required was a good cleaning and it was ready to work. If there is something I could note as "disadvantages", comparing this with my other ultra portable typewriters, is that the Traveller de Luxe is heavier (5,2 Kg) and a bit more noisy when I type and as I see many others are making the same comment about this machine. Other than that it is very steady, well made and easy to use.

This was the condition of the cover when I got the machine. I managed to clean it up to a point, but unfortunately those big marks on the front and the one from a cigarette next to the handle cannot be removed.

Writer and blogger from Athens, Greece. I own a small collection of typewriters, most of my machines are functional and I try to repair any with problems that keeps it from typing. For me, it is important for a typewriter not just to sit on a shelve for display, but to be able to type when I want to. On the links below you will find my blogs and social media profiles. Feel free to follow me and get in touch if you want. I am always happy to communicate :)
