1975 Silver Reed 2600CR Serial # 51042849 1975 Silver Reed 2600CR typewriter, Serial # 51042849 Pekka Sallinen's 1975 Silver Reed 2600CR typewriter. 2024-01-20 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Pekka Sallinen: 1975 Silver Reed 2600CR Serial # 51042849 This device was purchased as used from Pori, Finland in February 1985. I have no info about the original purhcase, but there is a maintenance sticker from 1983, so I reckon this would be from the 70's.

The main belt is bad and slips, so the device doesn't currently work even though the motor runs, I need to find a replacement belt somewhere (probably will end up using some kind of gasket ring). It is an elastic flat rubber belt, about 30-40cm long and about 10mm wide, quite thin. Probably the device is not that picky about the belt as long as it runs and moves the axles.

Swedish/Finnish keyboard, as my devices usually have. The original color of the device is quite light gray, but of course it has turned very much yellow by time. Does not stick of tobacco though, which is nice. Might try whitening the case plastics at some point by soaking them in 3% hydrogen peroxide for several hours.
