Description:
Royal Caravan. First year of production. Appears to be identical to a Tippa S, but it does have a carriage lock lever on the left side of the keys which I do not believe the Tippa S has. Spring loaded manually set tabs in the rear, a bit outmoded. Nice typing touch. Excellent German engineering. As it was made by Triumph Adler I am creating a new listing under the Royal (Triumph Adler) section of the Database though there is one other (mis)listed under the general Royal section. it's hard to know...

A lover of the written word, I was bitten by the typewriter bug at the beginning of 2019 when I embarked on a Joyful Odyssey to track down a vintage Olympia SM 7/8/9, (I didn't know the model number at the time) that my mother had owned and which I had used to type my college applications in the late 1980's. I have acquired quite a number since, and have enjoyed learning about the history, mechanics, and true variety of these machines.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Royal Caravan on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Royal Serial Number page and the Royal Caravan By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
