Description:
I bought this typewriter out of the back room of a small noodle restaurant in Changhua, Taiwan. It was very dirty, every key would stick, and there seemed to be some mysterious issue with the ribbon vibrator that caused it to get tangled and caught each time you tried to type with "shift" or "shift lock" applied. It did not have any type of case, but seemed to be complete and capable of working correctly. It's amazing what a little cleaning will do. With just some basic cleaning and a little work on the internals with a soft wire brush, this machine was back to 95%. It cleaned up well and actually looks pretty good. The typing is perfectly smooth and snappy. The only remaining issue was that odd ribbon vibrator problem. As it turns out, the ribbon was actually installed incorrectly. Though this ribbon vibrator appears similar to so many others, a fairly common design, it actually requires the ribbon to be routed a bit unusually. Once the ribbon was installed in its new and unusual, but technically correct way, the issue was resolved! This is now a 100% fully functional machine and is a pleasure to use.

My name is Skyler and I live in Taiwan. I am a Demolition Engineer & Metal Fabricator by day and I typically keep myself as busy as possible with various projects and hobbies when not at work. I have lived in Taiwan for ten years and have discovered that there are actually quite a few typewriters to be found here. What is especially interesting about this fact is that, being that this is Asia, typewriters never had the same uses or popularity that they did in the west. So finding so many is quite surprising. Because they were all imported or brought in when returning from overseas trips, there is a very wide variety available. I have actually seen many typewriters that I have never seen mentioned or listed on the TWDB, which is part of why I wanted to join and become a "Typewriter Hunter", as I would like to fill in some of the gaps.
I collect and repair typewriters, as well, though I am still new to it. So, I would love discussions, tips, and advice related to that.
