1973 Triumph Tippa Serial # 5610003 1973 Triumph Tippa typewriter, Serial # 5610003 Sebastian Kleinschmidt's 1973 Triumph Tippa typewriter. 2022-12-29 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Sebastian Kleinschmidt: 1973 Triumph Tippa Serial # 5610003 Got another Triumph Tippa, this one from 1973 according to the serial number (5610003). I bought it at a flea market here in Wuppertal on 16th March 2022.

It was a bit dirty when I got it but already in near perfect working order (the space bar and Margin Release had/have issues). I cleaned it and tried to fix all the issues. Unfortunately, I can't get the Margin Release working properly. I already have a similar issue on my Tippa S. It seems to be related to the slim design. But since I don't need to use it most of the time, I have left fixing it for now.

The typing action is as good as you expect from a Triumph-Adler typewriter. They are superb German typewriters and it's definitely a great ultraportable. What I particularly like about it is the typeface: No 88 Bruxelles. Got three with that typeface now.

I'm a typewriter collector from Germany and interested in various kinds of brands and types from pre- and post-WW2, particularly focusing on Seidel & Naumann (Ideal & Erika), Triumph-Adler and Smith-Corona (my favourite brand!), although I own some other brands and am looking at some others (Underwood, Remington). I particularly like portables, my favourite pre-WW2 typewriter being the Erika 5 and my favourite post-WW2 typewriter being my Smith-Corona Silent-Super.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Triumph Tippa on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Triumph Serial Number page and the Triumph Tippa By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
