Description:
Time races by -- one moment it's Pinewood Derby cars and the next diplomas...
This fabulous orange racing, make that -- typing, machine was a special collaboration between Smith Corona and famed Italian design firm Ghia. Sleek lines and angles juxtaposed with sharp curves. Everything to convey the sense that this is a real sports car. See that shine - that's 3 coats of McGuire's automotive polish - what else? Those black rubber stripes on the bottom of the case - yep those are supposed to resemble tire treads.
This thing will blow away Speed Racer's Mach one.

A lover of the written word, I was bitten by the typewriter bug at the beginning of 2019 when I embarked on a Joyful Odyssey to track down a vintage Olympia SM 7/8/9, (I didn't know the model number at the time) that my mother had owned and which I had used to type my college applications in the late 1980's. I have acquired quite a number since, and have enjoyed learning about the history, mechanics, and true variety of these machines.
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Smith Corona Super G on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Smith Corona Serial Number page and the Smith Corona Super G By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
