Description:
Found on a flea market. Olivetti Lettera DL, manufactured in Spain, with standard Greek typeface and serial number 7087129. I am not very sure about the year of manufacture, though, as the Lettera DL serial numbers here on the TWDB are not complete. My guess is 1973 because of the machines of other collectors. It is complete and in excellent condition, with its nice case, user manual in Greek and as a bonus, many papers from the first owner that were kept underneath the machine!! I am very happy, as this is my first Olivetti! During cleaning and taking care of the mechanism I noticed a problem at the ribbon direction. As I type the ribbon is moving towards the right spool but I cannot change that to go the other way, which means that there is something wrong with the mechanism. I will find out and fix it. Other than that the typewriter is in great shape. As you can see in the pictures, the beautifil case is dirty in some spots on the inside - maybe a dry clean would help.

Writer and blogger from Athens, Greece. I own a small collection of typewriters, most of my machines are functional and I try to repair any with problems that keeps it from typing. For me, it is important for a typewriter not just to sit on a shelve for display, but to be able to type when I want to. On the links below you will find my blogs and social media profiles. Feel free to follow me and get in touch if you want. I am always happy to communicate :)
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Olivetti Lettera DL on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Olivetti Serial Number page and the Olivetti Lettera DL By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
