Description:
#588
An interesting combination ... Sears sold it, we know that from the "Achiever" name, there's no other mention of Sears. When you look under the hood, it looks like an Olivetti "Lettera... ?" and has the body style of an Underwood "378", but the bright blue is used for the entire body. Made in Spain.
If I use the serial #'s for the Underwood "378" this would be an 80's era typewriter...

In my spare time I own and operate an equal opportunity rescue shelter for all makes and models of typewriters that have been abandoned in the bottoms of closets.
No matter how many typewriters I am fortunate to be able to collect, my collection will not be as nice as Herman's...
RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Sears Achiever on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Sears Serial Number page and the Sears Achiever By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
