1972 Olivetti Linea 98 Serial # 4043304 1972 Olivetti Linea 98 typewriter, Serial # 4043304 Jacob Peacock's 1972 Olivetti Linea 98 typewriter. 2026-07-27 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Jacob Peacock: 1972 Olivetti Linea 98 Serial # 4043304 This machine was in pretty bad condition, the left margin didn't work, the keys would jam, the ribbon doesn't like to advance, the repeat spacer button jams the machine, and the tabulator jams the machine. The margin is fixed and the keys don't jam anymore. The ribbon is spotty with advancing.
The ribbon advancing is fixed, the repeat spacer works again and with that the tabulator works too. It is pretty cool they are tied together. The ribbon vibrator spring has lost its ability to spring the ribbon vibrator on anything but the hardest setting. I would say this machine is now in mostly working order.
