1972 Adler Satellite Serial # 6400444 1972 Adler Satellite typewriter, Serial # 6400444 Lupo Cuore's 1972 Adler Satellite typewriter. 2022-08-21 From the Virtual Typewriter Collection of Lupo Cuore: 1972 Adler Satellite Serial # 6400444 Yes, I know the nameplate says "Electric MX" . The story here is: I got this from ShopGoodwill about six months ago. the drawstring gear was stripped, thus making the machine useless. Fast forward to now. I got an Electric MX for parts for the MX I'm working on. I was surprised to find it was pretty much identical to the Satellite except its body was plastic - and that included the carriage assembly (remove two screws on these and off comes the carriage, rails, and escapement in one neat package). After legitimately trying to fix the MX, whose ribbon vibrator was twisted way off to one side, I decided to stick with the plan of the MX being for parts, and transferred the carriage to the Satellite, where it fit like a glove. I just need to get around to transferring the paper table and possibly the blue shell of the carriage over. Though the dark color that came from the MX looks okay sooooo.... see also the Adler MX I cataloged here.

The Satellite's typeface is RO88 Esquire.

This machine's seen some hard use, all sorts of chips in the case and this engraving on the front. Maybe I should paint it...

New collector with a penchant for offbeat models/brands and, conversely, the mundane models many overlook, if I have a personal connection or just find them interesting. Finding that collecting typewriters is like eating potato chips, you can't have just one! Also restorer of mechanical calcs, Vintage audio, and vintage computers.

RESEARCH NOTE: When researching the Adler Satellite on a computer with lots of screen real estate, you may find that launching the Adler Serial Number page and the Adler Satellite By Model/Year/Serial page in new browser windows can give you interesting perspectives on changes throughout the model series.
